Thomas Anthony Caruso passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 29, 2019 at the age of 86. Thomas was born in Irvington, NJ on October 16, 1932. Son of Mario and Rose. He graduated from Irvington H.S. in 1950. Two years later he joined the Army until 1954 with an honorable discharge. He then graduated N.C.E. in Newark (now NJIT). with a degree in mechanical engineering. Later, in 1967 he joined his father, Mario and brother, Pat as a partner in Conca D’Oro Italian Pastry Shop in Newark and later in Union, NJ. He retired in 2002 and sold the business to his loyal and talented baker, Juan Lopez.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 40 years Arlene Caruso; 3 daughters Diane Talarico (Joseph), Linda Francsesco (Ronald) and Patrice Alaimo. Seven grandchildren Joseph, Marisa, Matthew, Laura, Lea, Christopher and Ann. Sister Lee Mills; brother of the late Patsy Caruso and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas loved music from Pavarotti to Frank Sinatra. He loved to sing and was a fantastic dancer. Tom loved vacations on the islands and L.B.I. Thomas had a great sense of humor and enjoyed telling jokes. He loved his Tuesday night poker games. Thomas was a great baker and is known for his delicious cannolis. Tom was proud of his family and their accomplishments. He will be greatly missed.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 4:00 – 8:00PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:00AM at the funeral home, followed by a Blessing at 11:00AM. Interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
