Richard M Rist was called home to heaven on Saturday September 21, 2019. He was born in Elizabeth and resided in Colonia since 1953.
Rich proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, stationed in the DMZ in South Korea with the 2nd infantry division. He was an employed by General Motors in Linden for 25 years retiring in 2009. He was an Owner and General Contractor for RQS Carpentry for 10 years.
During his retirement he volunteered with NJ Fish and Wildlife and was a charter member and an active committee member with the Ducks Unlimited Raritan Bay Chapter. Rich was a lifetime member of the Colonia VFW Post 6061 and a life time member of the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He was a shooting instructor at Hudson Farms in Andover and a certified NRA instructor. He served his church for 25 years and in his later years served as a Deacon.
He was predeceased by his parents Elwood and Virginia Rist, his grandson Jeffrey David, granddaughter Bailey Ella Rist. Surviving are his children Darren Rist and his wife Alison, Don Rist, Richard D. Rist and his wife Stacy, Jeremy Rist and his wife Jacqueline, 7 grandchildren Maia, Megan, Rachel, Madison, Jacob, Katelyn, Ryan. Richard is also survived by his 2 sisters Patricia Noone and Gloria Patterson and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation 4:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday September 26, 2019 at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Services Friday September 27, 2019 10:30am at the funeral home followed by entombment at Clover Leaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge.
