Regino F Mayo, 94 years old, passed away Monday January 7, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born and resided in Jersey City before moving to Colonia in 1950. He proudly served our country in the Army 5th Airforce Pacific Theater during WW ll. During his time in service he received the Asiatic Pacific medal with 7 battle stars, and 2 air medals.
Reggie was the owner of Reggie’s Salon in Rahway for 40 years retiring in 1979. After retirement he was a Custodian for Woodbridge Township School System for 7 years before retiring. Reggie enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St Cecelia’s in Iselin and St Mary’s in Barnegat, NJ and was active in St Vincent DePaul Food Bank in Barnaget.
Regino was predeceased by his wife Eleanor Mayo, his son Thomas Mayo, his brother Frank Mayo and his sister Lena Oleck. Surviving are his children Timothy Mayo and his wife Helen and Mary Rawa and her husband Steven, his grandchildren Keith, Nicole and Kristen also many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation Thursday January 10, 2019 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Services Friday January 11, 2019 9:00am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00am Mass at St Cecelia RC Church, Iselin. Interment St Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
