John Matty, Sr. Obituary

John E Matty, Sr. (Pop Pop) passed away Tuesday October 23, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bayonne and resided in Colonia for 25 years moving to Toms River in 1997. Mr Matty was in general maintenance for the NY NJ Port Authority in Port Newark for 40 years retiring in 1996. He was an avid Raiders fan, enjoyed cars and spending time with his family.

John was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Matty and his half brother Chubby Necklen. Surviving are his wife of 61 years Ruth (Zedtlach) Matty his children John E Matty Jr. and his wife Arlene, and Catherine Matty-Poiani also 5 grandchildren Arlayna and her fiancé Steve and Annelisse Poiani, Kaitlyn, Teighler (TJ) and Jordan Matty.

Visitation Saturday October 27, 2018 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road Edison with a 7:30PM Blessing. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers family request donations in his loving memory to: St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
