John Gil, age 87, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud United States Air Force veteran, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018, at Haven Hospice in Edison surrounded by his family. John was born on November 7, 1930, in Carteret, to Augusto and Josephine Gil. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952 where he worked as a firefighter. Upon returning home, John married the love of his life, Ann Marie Loso, on May 2, 1953, in Perth Amboy, NJ. The couple was happily married for 49 years until her death in 2002. For nearly two decades, John was an integral member of the Siemens Corporation warehouse shipping and receiving team of Iselin, NJ, before retiring in 1992. He loved his family and friends, his beloved cat Sabrina, horseracing, antiques, the New York Giants and New York Yankees, Manischewitz wine mixed with orange soda, Jersey tomatoes, and playing the lottery. John is survived by his children, Cynthia, of Colonia, and Gavin (Carmen), of Wisconsin; his sister, Joan Tompkins, of California; grandchildren, Christopher (Jo Ann), Scott, Matthew (Mandi), Thomas, and Annie (Joshua); his great-grandchildren, Weston, Isaak, Annika, and Kohen; and many other loved ones. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Ann; his brother, Joseph, and his sister, Josephine. Family and friends are invited to the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, NJ 08820, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm & 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday, February 12th, to celebrate John’s life. Funeral services will be private.
