     Fred P. Milek, of Edison died Wednesday at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.  He was 63.
     Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Roselle and Irvington before moving to Edison in 1978.  He also maintained a summer home in Lavallette.
     He graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle in 1968.  He then received his Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Newark State College (Kean University) in 1972.
     After graduation Fred started working for the New Jersey Department of Labor as an Intermittent Claims Taker, retiring after 38 years in 2008 as a Senior Administrative Analyst in charge of the computer network in Trenton.  He set up his own computer and network consulting firm soon after his retirement.
     Fred was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Helena’s RC Church in Edison, serving as Head Usher and a Eucharistic Minister.  He also served as Co-President of the Holy Name Society.  He was a permanent fixture at both the Saturday and Sunday 5 PM Masses.  He was a member of the Pope John Paul I Knights of Columbus Council #6571 in Colonia and joined the Fourth Degree Assembly in October.
     Fred was well known for his affection for his cats, his love of technology and computers, his willingness to help others in need and his quirky sense of humor.  He was a self-taught “Mr. Fix-It” and would generously devote his time and talents to anyone in need.
     His father, Stanley Milek died in March 2012.  He was also predeceased by his mother, Julia Milek in 2006.
     Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Lynne (nee: O’Connell); two sons, Christopher John Milek and Michael Peter Milek, both of Princeton; his sister, Julianne Milek of Clark; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
     Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at St. Helena’s RC Church, 950 Grove Avenue, Edison, with a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 10 AM.  Burial to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.  Arrangements have been handled under the direction of the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, Edison.
     Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. Helena’s RC Church, 950 Grove Avenue, Edison, New Jersey 08820 in Fred’s loving memory.
