Frank Mistretta, of Brick and formerly of Edison died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick.
Born in Newark, he lived in Edison for over 50 years before moving to Brick 6 years ago. Frank proudly served our Country in the United States Army and the Army Reserve for 35 years retiring as a Major.
Frank was the owner of Mistretta’s Italian Specialties in Iselin for 20 years retiring in 1990. He was the past commissioner of Edison Housing Authority, past president of the Clara Barton Senior Club, and member of the Democratic Club of Edison. Frank was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords.
He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Eva Mistretta, his sister Josephine Holden. Surviving are his children, Frank Mistretta and his wife Maria of Edison; DebraJo Vetterl and her husband Robert of Brick and Susan Badavas and her husband James of Old Bridge; 6 grandchildren, Robert (Bridget), Kristen (Christopher), Matthew (Danielle), Frank, Brittney and Tiffany also 3 great grandchildren Theodore, Michael and Natalie. Frank is also survived by his brother Vincent Mistretta of Manchester.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Gosselin Funeral home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10 at 8:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. Helena’s RC Church, Edison. Burial to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
