Florence (Burns) Gretsky

Florence Jacqueline Gretsky, age 79, died peacefully on December 7, 2019.

Florence was born in Forestville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Florence and Joseph Burns.  She graduated from Cass Township High School and married her high school sweetheart, Paul Gretsky. They were devoted to each other for 60 years. She raised 4 boys with an abundance of patience and love.  She said that her whole life was about her boys and their families... and that is exactly how she lived out all her days.

Florence will be remembered for her open and faithful heart and her generous soul.  She worked hard in the world of banking for her whole career and volunteered at her church regularly.  But it was her family that she considered her greatest accomplishment and will be remembered as the guiding light in the lives of her children and grandchildren.  She will be celebrated for her love and devotion to them, above all.  She loved them well and was well loved in return.

Florence is survived by her husband Paul and her four sons - Paul Gretsky and his wife Carol, David Gretsky and his wife Andrea, Alan Gretsky and his wife Victoria, Kevin Gretsky and his wife Gretchen and her eleven grandchildren Will, Gavin, Emily, Zachary, Julia, Katerina, Caleb, Lucy, Mary, Emma and Erin.

Visitation will be on Sunday December 15 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm, Parastas will be at 2:00pm.

Funeral Service will be on Monday December 16, 2019 at 9:00am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00am Liturgy at St Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, 1410 St. Georges Avenue, Rahway, NJ.
