Elizabeth "Betty" Cwiekalo

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother

Elizabeth Cwiekalo passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Landing, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and resided in Conemaugh, PA moving to Iselin, NJ in 1941, South Plainfield, NJ in 1994, moving to Landing, NJ in 2017.

Betty became a member of St Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, Rahway, NJ, when she married Mike in 1941. She was one of the founding members of the Altar Rosary Society and Bakers Group and had remained active in all activities in the church until her illness. Everyone could count on Betty to be there as a friend and helper.

She never sat down and always made her family her life. She granted everyone’s wishes however big or small. Once she finally did sit down she made afghans, shawls, pillows and Christmas stockings with her talented hands.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael, her parents Michael and Anna Hadzinski, her daughter Betty Ann Jones, her brothers Stephen, Steve and Harry Hadzinsky and her sisters Olga Kalich and Nellie Sindelar. She is survived by her children Joan Rolef (Rudy), Linda Cwiekalo, Michael Cwiekalo (Susan Aigner) her son-in-law Kenneth R Jones, her grandchildren Rebecca Jones, Jennifer Jones English (Daniel), Karen Rolef Casaliggi (Victor), Christine Rolef (Mark), Rachel Jones Sybor (Jim), Sheryl Cwiekalo Beauchamp (Tom) Kristina Cwiekalo and her fiancée Anthony Sforza. Betty is also survived by her great grandchildren Jacob, Jack, Annalise English, Adam, Kevin, Casaliggi, Leah, Miriam Beauchamp and Courtney Sybor. She is also survived by her brother John Hadzinski.

Visitation will be held Sunday June 24, 2018 from 4:00PM- 8:00PM at Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Parastas Service will be Sunday 7:00PM at the funeral home. Funeral Service Monday June 25, 2018 at 9:30AM at the Funeral Home followed by a 11:00AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, Rahway. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to: Alzheimer’s Association of NJ or the St Thomas Memorial Chapel Fund.
