Benjamin F WilderJune 8, 1932 ~ November 22, 2017 (age 85)
Benjamin Wilder,Jr. passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Rahway. He was born and resided in Jamacia Queens, moving to Brooklyn, NY, York, PA, and Rahway, NJ before moving to Colonia in 1973
Benjamin was a Video Engineer for WOR TV in Secaucus for 2 years prior he worked for Teletape in NY City for 18 years also WSBA in York, PA. He was a Union member of N.A.B.E.T. Local 11 of NY, a member of the St John Vianney Seniors and an Usher for St. Marks RC Church Rahway. He volunteered as a reader for the kindergartens at Grover Cleveland School, Rahway NJ for 20 years and was a kitchen helper at Rahway Hospital. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time outdoors in Vermont, he loved the New York Yankees, Mickey Mantle was one of his favorite players and he loved Derek Jeter like a second son.
He was predeceased by his parents Benjamin and Esther Wilder, his 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Surviving are his wife of 64 years Rachel (Vignola) Wilder, his son Mark Wilder and his wife Rebecca Everett and his grandson Samuel Everett Wilder.
Visitation will be Monday, November 27, 2017 from 3:00PM to 7:00PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Road Edison. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 8:30AM at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30AM Mass at St John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Cremation Private.
