Robert Trela Obituary

Heaven gained another angel yesterday when Bob was welcomed into Heaven. Robert E. Trela entered into eternal rest on April 15th, 2024.

With his spirit lives a collage of his kindest attributes: a caring heart, a passion for people, and a love of his family, which blended together perfectly to create the perfect canvas of an amazing man who is forever loved and cherished by all. Bob’s empathetic soul branded him as a kind hearted gentleman, yet also known to many as a “man’s man”- who would give the shirt off his back to help others in need, oftentimes without question or mention. He enjoyed making others smile and “Chances Are” you heard his joy radiate through song, danced alongside his spectacular moves, or just simply witnessed his glowing smile that told others how incredibly special he was.
A lifelong Giants and Mets fan, Bob showed his courage through his sports choices, but also through his incredibly brave service to the United States Air Force. He dedicated his life to service and hard work, and completed a successful career as a Communications Supervisor for Conrail, where he demonstrated an impeccable work ethic, perseverance, and pride for his area of expertise.
Although he retired with big shoes to fill, his biggest expertise was his ability to build things, and not just structurally build things, but build and create a family that would go on to miss him dearly.

Bob and Elizabeth Ann (Sinbine) celebrated their 54th Anniversary just days ago, after a lifetime of unconditional love, respect, and happiness that will live on forever. Their children, Robert Jr (wife Stephanie), Jeffrey (wife Christine), and Tracy Hearon succeed his parenting legacy, while seven grandchildren (Trevor, Skylar, Avery, Robert III, Kaitlyn, Matthew and Christian) affectionately called him Pop-Pop.  Left behind in sadness were his brother Stanley Trela and sister Carol Reinhard. He was predeceased by his brother John, and parents Stanley and Genevieve (Pudlak).

Bob was an amazing husband and father, but he was the best grandfather of all. PopPop was always at his grandchildren’s events to celebrate every milestone with them, and in any crowded room or party he was the one person each grandchild ran to first. He was always there to give them their kick in the pants or to “rip off their lips”. Whether he was hosting a washers tournament on the 4th of July at his home or loading up the car full of tables, chairs, and countless supplies for another house, he was at the center of every Trela family celebration.

Bob has given us treasures that will live on for generations to come. A viewing will be Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Day of funeral visitation will be Saturday April 20, 2024 from 9:30am to 10:30am . A funeral mass remembering Bob will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Cecelia’s Church in Iselin at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery in Colonia.
Please join us in remembering our beloved by sharing a story while we take comfort in each other’s company. We will always remember his “bright blessed day” through these “dark sacred nights”, and we’ll think to ourselves, “What a Wonderful World” he gave us.
