John Brennan Obituary

John Brennan passed away peacefully on April 13, 2024 at the age of 87 after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Elizabeth NJ and was a loving husband and father of five. His work ethic and willingness to lend a hand to everyone set a true example for his family who tirelessly stayed by his side through his final days. John started his career at New Jersey Bell as a mechanic and worked his way up to management, with 35 years of service. He will be missed by many. His selflessness was a true example of a genuine human being. 

He is survived by Judith, his devoted wife of 65 years, five children, Michael Brennan (Joyce), John Brennan (Linda), Tim Brennan (Melinda), Ed Brennan (Melissa), and Jacquelyn Shackleton (William), 13 Grandchildren, Amy, John, Kristin, Ryan, Kira, Jessica, Chad, Emily, Zachary, Samantha, Daniel, Jake, and Liam. John had 6 Great Grandchildren, Carter, Lincoln, Brennan, Banks, Molly and Maverick.  

He is predeceased by his parents, John and Emily Brennan and grandson Liam Shackleton. 

Services for John will be on Thursday April 18 at Gosselin Funeral Home, Edison, NJ at 10 am, and St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ immediately following.
The family would like to thank Valley View Care in Newton and Emily Smith for the tremendous care and compassion given to both John and his family during this very difficult time.
