William F. O'Brien

William F. O’Brien, 91 of Edison passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12th at Haven Hospice at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. Son of George Lewis and Marian Perry O’Brien, he was born on November 27th 1925 in East Orange and graduated from Clifford Scott High School in 1943 and the University of Vermont in 1950.
He lived in Randolph, Morristown, Mendham and Ocean Grove before moving to the NJ Veterans’ Memorial Home in Edison in 2011.
Bill served in the US Army during both WWII and the Korean War, during which he was awarded two Bronze Stars, one with V for Valor.
He worked in Industrial Sales for over 50 years throughout North and Central New Jersey before retiring in 2004.
He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Daryl O’Brien-Palmer in 2015; and his brother, George Perry O’Brien.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen of Albuquerque, NM, Glenn of Mendham and Carl & Mariela of West Windsor; 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14th from 4-8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Cremation will be held privately.
