William Francis Jaeger of Colonia passed away on Saturday, June 3rd at home, surrounded by his family.  He was 90.

Born in Rahway, he lived in Avenel before moving to Colonia in 1959.

He attended St. James Grade School and Woodbridge High School before graduating from Seton Hall University.  He served in the US Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946 in the 175th Engineer Regiment.  He was also a devout Catholic and charter parishioner of St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia and a member of the Pope John Paul I Knights of Columbus, Council #6571, Colonia.  He was also a member of the Springwood Swim Club in Colonia.

In 1958, he married Marian J. Wanca and they honeymooned in Bermuda.  They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.  He will be remembered for his jokes and his love of NY Mets baseball and NY Giants football.

Bill is predeceased by his parents, Julius Edward Jaeger and Elizabeth Cecelia Bolan Jaeger; and brothers, Julius E. Jaeger and James Martin Jaeger.

Surviving are his wife, Marian; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Jaeger, Susan & Thomas O’Leary, Barbara & Frank Cannamela and Lisa & Mac Tavares; son and daughter-in-law, William & Eugenia Jaeger; sister, Joan Schirger; 10 grandchildren with a great-grandchild due in October; and many niece, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7th from 4 to 8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 8th at 8:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia.  Burial to follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the New Jersey Veterans Home, 132 Evergreen Road, Edison, New Jersey 08837.
