Samuel J. Salzano, of Colonia passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Morristown Medical Center. He was 75 years old.

Born in the Iron Bound section of Newark, he later moved to Colonia and remained a resident for the duration of his life.

Sam worked for the Maher Terminal in Port Newark for 50 years, most recently as a Chief Planning Clerk before his retirement 10 years ago. 

A deeply spiritual and religious man; he was a parishioner at St. John Vianney’s RC Church in Colonia. Sam devoted his life to his family, possessed a generosity that knew no bounds and had a deep love of horses and horse racing. In his later years he enjoyed spending time at Favorites at Woodbridge.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank & Rose Salzano; and his brother, Philip Salzano.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Frances; daughter, Nicole Salzano of New York City; son, Frank of Miami, Florida; and sister, Rose Czajkowski of Manahawkin, New Jersey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 28th from 2-8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29th at 8:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Entombment to follow in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens.
