Richard Kovalcik, of Edison died Wednesday, May 24th at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 85.
Born in New York City, he lived in Brooklyn before moving to Edison in 2006.
He worked in Accounting for Poling Transportation in Staten Island for 49 years before retiring in 1996.
Richard was a US Army veteran. He was also a parishioner of St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, stamp collecting, gardening and spending time with his family.
His wife, Assunta “Sue” Kovalcik died on December 25th 2016. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Susan Kovalcik in 1982.
Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law, Richard Kovalcik, Jr. of Boston, Massachusetts and Andrew & Allison Kovalcik of Edison; sister, Barbara Kovalcik of Brooklyn, NY; and 3 grandchildren, Kelly Sue, Christopher and Kyle.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26th from 4-8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 8 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 9 AM Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Burial to follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.
