Richard Brennan passed away peacefully on Saturday July 23rd, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born and resided in Jersey City moving to Colonia 61 years ago.  Richard proudly served our country in the Navy during World War ll on the USS James O’Hara. 

            He was a retired Teamster and last worked at Consolidated Freightways.

            He was a member of The American Legion and past Commander of Post 248, The Iselin Knights of Columbus Council 3639 and the Avenel VFW Post 7164.  He was a longtime member of Springwood Swim Club. He was one of the founders of the Merrill Park Junior Baseball League.  He was a communicant and usher at St. John Vianney parish for many years.

           He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years Anne (Busko) Brennan, parents John and Elizabeth Brennan, his 12 siblings and son-in-law Graham Briggs.

Surviving are his children Robert Brennan and wife Arlene of Clark; daughters, Kathleen Brennan Briggs of Williamsburg, Virginia, Eileen Timko and husband, John of Flemington, and Carol Iacobelli and husband Robert of Colonia.

            Surviving are also 5 grandchildren, Kelliann Ten Kate and husband Brian, Robert Iacobelli, Caitlin Brennan, Marissa Everman and husband Michael and Erin Gilbert and husband Robert; great-granddaughters, Kayla and Emma Ten Kate; step-grandchildren Abigail Briggs and husband Brian Palys of Michigan, Geoffrey Briggs and wife Teri Soper of Washington; and great-grandchildren, Myka and Lucia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26 from 2PM to 4PM and 7PM to 9PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Services Wednesday, July 27, 8:30AM at the funeral Home Followed by a 9:30 AM mass at St John Vianney Church, Colonia. Interment St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
