My Mom, Pat Mikita, and Phyllis were friends pretty much as long as I can remember. We use to go over and visit Phyllis, Teddy and Michael, in their 2nd floor apt, right off the corner of the Boulevard. I don't even think us kids were in school yet!
When my Mom passed away in 2009, I called Phyllis to let her know since they had remained friends since the days at Guerrings (if I even spelled it right). Her and I remained in touch, speaking a few times a year, sending cards and somehow, having Phyllis back in my life, I felt my Mom was also still with us.
Almost 2 years ago, I didn't get a Christmas card, and I started to call but never got an answer, and later, the phone was disconnected.
Only today, did I find out from my HS friend, Donald Syme, that she passed away in June, and had previously moved and been living in a long term care place. That's why I could't find her.
Well Pyllis, I sure hope you and my Mom are hanging out, together again sitting at the kitchen table, over coffee, just having one more of your many conversations. You were both two of the strongest most independent woman I've even know. You did whatever it took to make sure your kids were okay....You were fiercely loyal to your friends and especially protective of your family.
I will miss you.

Phyllis will be truly missed by her friend and roommate, Lucy. Although they only knew each other for about one year, they became wonderful friends. Phyllis was very kind and caring to Lucy, and Lucy is heartbroken. We will all miss Phyllis when we visit our Aunt. Please accept our sincere condolences.

So sorry to hear of my cousins passing. She was such an idol to me. She was honest and told it like it was and had a man who loved her just the way she was. She taught me to be me and if the guy didn't like it too bad. I loved our bowling league and she always had food for me to eat. She inspired me to have steak and lobster on New Years Eve even if I was eating alone. Say hello to my Pookie Phyllis I know he will adore you and you him. You will be missed.
