Mercedes B. Speakman, of Iselin died Monday, March 30th at Haven Hospice at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 81.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, she has lived in Iselin since 1962.
Merce worked as a Human Resources Manager for Valcor Engineering in Springfield for 40 years before retiring on December 31st 2014.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Cecelia’s RC Church in Iselin.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her life was devoted to her family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harold Speakman; son, Richard Speakman; and brother, Bernard A. Brennan.
Surviving are her son, Kevin Speakman of Colonia; daughter, Marianne Speakman of Iselin; granddaughter, Karly Speakman; and great-grandson, Jackson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at 9 AM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Cecelia RC Church, Iselin. Burial to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31st from 5-9 PM at the funeral home.
