Mary Nelson

Mary Nelson, 88 born July 22, 1928in Elizabeth, NJ. She grew up and went to school in Roselle Park. Mary married Ian Nelson and moved to Colonia 59 years ago.

            Mary worked as a school lunch aide at Claremont Ave School #20 in Colonia for 30 years, retiring at the age of 82. She also drove a school bus for many years.

Mary loved to travel: Hawaii, Rome and Jerusalem were her favorites to visit. Mary and Ian also loved to play bingo where they made so many wonderful friends. She was also lucky to have wonderful neighbors who kept an eye on her.

            Mary is predeceased by her husband Ian; and three of her children Patricia Wiggins, Eric Nelson, and Christopher Nelson.

            She is survived by her two children Peg and her husband Larry Mayerowitz of Fords, and her son Jim Nelson of Woodland Hills, CA; Grandchildren Jennifer, Stephanie, Jason, Shaun, Jamie, Jeffrey, Ryan, Katie, Dylan, Julia, Rose, and Alex; and 5 Great-Grandchildren Mia, Eva, Michael, Patrick, and Lexie.

            Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7th from 4-8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Memorial Mass will be held Saturday morning at 9AM at St. John Vianney Church, Colonia. Cremation has been held privately.
