Marjorie V. (Haring) Vassallo
March 23, 1925 ~ April 24, 2015 (age 90) 90 Years OldMarjorie V. Vassallo, of Edison died Friday, April 24th at Haven Hospice at the JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 90.
Born in Somerville, she lived in Raritan, Orange and Colonia before moving to Edison in 1994.
Marge graduated from Orange Memorial Hospital Nursing School. During her lifetime she received many award for her work, including the Merck Humanitarian Award.
She worked as a Registered Nurse at Merck Pharmaceuticals in Rahway for 12 years before retiring in 1990. She then worked for the Woodbridge Township Board of Education as an Afterschool Program Nurse until 2005.
Marge served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was active in the Colonia Little Fellows Baseball League and the Colonia Girls Softball League.
She was also an avid fan of various games, particularly Bingo, Bridge, Rummy Q and especially spending time in the casinos. She was also a fan of bowling.
Her husband, Joseph C. Vassallo died in 1980. She is also predeceased by her sister, Laura McCann.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph & Debra Vassallo of Metuchen, and Edward & Kathryn Vassallo of Old Bridge; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia & Les Stahon of Edison, and Jennie & Rich Andrews of New Providence; sisters, Brenda Lippe of Arizona and Kathy Richie of Binghamton, New York; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas Stahon (Dana), James Stahon (Sarah), Michael Perlson (Jennifer), Kristen Birudaraju (Kit), Joseph Vassallo, Michael Vassallo, Nicole Vassallo; 4 great-grandchildren, Emily, Anjali, Alessia and Ryan; and multiple granddogs and Kat.
Cremation services have been held privately under the direction of the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, Edison.
Committal service will be held on Thursday, April 30th at 11 AM at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
