Joseph J. Griswold passed away at JFK Haven Hospice peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Iron Bound Section of Newark and resided in Irvington, Lake Hopatcong and Somerset before moving to Colonia in 2016. Joseph proudly served our country in the Army during WWII.

Joseph was an Iron worker for local 11 in Newark for 40 years retiring 25 years ago. He was a member of the Veterans Club of Canal Walk Somerset. Joe was a devout Catholic active in St. Leo’s RC Church Irvington and Star of the Sea, Lake Hopatcong as well as Mary Mother of God Hillsborough. He was one of the founding members of Lake Winona Club at Lake Hopatcong. Joseph enjoyed traveling, bowling, walking, swimming, and most of all spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his wife Marie Griswold (2016) his parents Harvey and Mary Griswold and his 8 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving are his children Barbara Blackwell and her husband Ken, Pat Blide and her husband Allen, Carol Talarico and her husband Flavio, Linda Hamill and her husband David, Joseph Griswold, Jr. and his wife Beth also 13 grandchildren Erik, Kelly, Kevin, Jennifer, Katey, Michael, Becky, Nicholas, Scott, Jessica, Alyssa, Jacob and Brendan and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday 12/6/2017 from 3:00PM to 7:00PM   at the Gosselin Funeral Home 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral Services Thursday 12/ 7/2017 8:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St John Vianney Church. Interment will be private at Brig. Gen. Wm. C Doyle Veterans Cemetery.
