John J. Bedner, of Colonia died Tuesday, May 9th at the St. Peter’s Hospice facility.  Born in Woodbridge, NJ and spent his youth on a farm in the hollow by the Green Street Circle and was a football player in Woodbridge High School. He has lived in Colonia for 62 years.

   He was married in 1942 and served in the Army during WWII in the Philippines.  John was an interior decorator and worked as an Upholsterer for Macy’s. He was a member of the Watchung Mountain Antique Automobile Association for many years and also served several times as President.  He was greatly known for his famous “Bedner bashes”.

He enjoyed writing poetry, antiquing, wood working, landscaping, his antique automobiles and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Elizabeth, and were married for 75 years.  Surviving is his son John of Colonia, daughter, Jean Knower and her husband Jack of Hillsborough; 4 grandchildren, John, Jason, Kristen and Danielle; and 4 Great grandchildren, Jacob, Dylan, Miranda and Brielle.
