Jan (John) Skurzynski of Edison, NJ passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 after a hard fought battle with cancer. In November 2014, he was suddenly diagnosed with stomach cancer which came as a shock to everyone. He was 64 years old. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral services. The Wake will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 with visitation hours from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at the Gosselin Funeral Home located at 660 New Dover Rd., Edison, NJ 08820. On Saturday, April 25, 2015, the funeral procession will begin at the Gosselin Funeral Home at 9:00 AM. The funeral mass will take place at St. Bernard of Clairvaux & St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church located at 368 Sumner Ave., Plainfield, NJ 07062 at 10:00AM. Jan will be laid to rest at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia, NJ. Jan was born on October 19, 1950 in Ostroszowice, Poland. As an adventurous young man, he immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1970’s with one suitcase and high hopes, settling in Edison, NJ. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a dedicated tool and dies maker who owned a machine shop (J.S. Tool, LLC) in Rahway, NJ for 29 years. Jan worked hard and was motivated to succeed. Jan enjoyed traveling, sports, bowling, playing pool and cards. He was a man with a natural high who told good jokes and stories. Jan was from a large family, the youngest of 8 siblings: Zofia, Tadeusz, Stanislaw, Janina, Teresa, Regina and Ignacy. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Danuta (Donna), son Mark with wife Monika along with grandchildren Julian and Daniel, and daughter Barbara (Basia) with husband Josh. Jan will be missed dearly. Zawsze bedziemy Cie kochac i za Toba tesknic. As Jan would say, summertime and the livin’ is easy! In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Association for Cancer Research (www.aacr.org) in his memory would be most appreciated.
