James A. Lipuma, of Colonia died Wednesday, May 13th, age 77.

Born in Newark, he has lived in Colonia since 1962.

He attended the Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.  As a chemical engineer, he worked for ADM, later Ashland Oil in Newark before retiring from the FMC Corporation in Princeton in 1987.

James was a parishioner of St. John Vianney’s RC Church in Colonia.  He was also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE).

He was a lifelong fan of Yankees baseball and Giants football.  James also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Martin & Mary Lipuma; and sister, Nancy Tetta.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Theresa (nee: Kostrzewski); son and daughter-in-law, James & Sandy Lipuma of Princeton Junction; daughters and son-in-law, Andrea Lipuma of South Amboy, and Sandra & Michael Reilly of Freehold; brother, Charles Lipuma of Kiawah, South Carolina; brother-in-law, Theodore Kostrzewski of Edison; and 3 grandchildren, Christa, Michael and Katie.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18th at 8:30 AM at the GOSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia.  Entombment to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17th from 2-6 PM at the funeral home.
