Hedwig Moskwa Obituary

“A Full Life of Family, Friends and Faith”

Hedwig “Hedy” (Kniazynski) Moskwa, 80, passed away on February 8, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born and resided in Elizabeth before moving to Colonia 60 years ago.  She was an active member of the Evergreen Senior Citizens in Colonia and of Post 91 Auxiliary Polish Veterans Club in Linden.

She was predeceased by her parents Mike and Hedwig Kniazynski and her sister Dolly Breidt. Surviving are her husband of 60 years Anthony “Tony” Moskwa, her children, Susan Anastasia (David), Anthony Moskwa (Laura), Diane Moskwa (Kelly), Joanne Karnila and her grandchildren Jessica, Kyle, Ross, Zachary, Jeanine, Bryce, Corey, and her sister Carol Reminger (John) and her brother-in-law Don Breidt.

Hedy enjoyed her family get togethers in the summers and around the holidays. She had a zest for life and a lifelong faith in God which sustained her throughout her during difficult times. She frequently enjoyed vacationing with husband Tony in Marco Island, Florida, visiting her friend and neighbor, Margaret, in England, and trips to the to see her children in California and throughout New Jersey. Many hours were spent playing pinochle with family and “competitive ping pong” against her husband Tony telling jokes and stories filled with laughter. Hedy always had a fondness for panda bears and her husband Tony obliged by buying many of them throughout their marriage. His nickname for her was “my panda.”

Watching her daughters and son grow into responsible adults gave her the most pleasure in life. The words “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine you make me happy, when skies are gray, you’ll never know dear how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away,” were often sung to all her children and grandchildren accompanied by a soothing smile and gentle touch.
