Eduardo “Eddie” Yu, 78, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Edison, New Jersey, where he lived for the past 48 years. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Nancy (So) Yu, his daughter, Amanda Yu, and his brother, Tommy Yu, and many close friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert Yu.
Eddie was born in China, just before Japan’s invasion in World War II. His family escaped to Hong Kong and, two years later, relocated again to the Philippines. In 1965, he immigrated to the United States to pursue a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Upon graduation, he began working at Sinclair Oil Corporation (now, Atlantic Richfield Company). He was soon recruited to J. M. Huber Corporation, where he worked until his retirement over 30 years later as a manager of information technology network security.
Eddie loved chess, sudoku, and classic films. He also enjoyed discussing politics and current events. He was a member of MENSA International and a supporter of public television.
A memorial service and mass will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Helena’s Church in Edison. The gathering will begin at 9:30 A.M. and mass will begin at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, please make a tribute/memorial donation on behalf of Eduardo “Eddie” Yu to the Alzheimer’s Association.
