Donald McDermid

Donald McDermid passed away in his home in Somerset on Sunday, September 27th, age 80.  Predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary McDermid (2009).  Donald & Mary have six children, John McDermid, Elizabeth Kazor, Donna Wilk, Donald McDermid, Allan McDermid and James McDermid; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sons-in-law and 4 daughters-in-law.

Born on May 13, 1935 in Greenock, Scotland, Donald has 9 brothers and sisters.  At 21, Donald and Mary settled in the United States to begin their life together and start a family of their own.  At the time of his passing, Donald (‘Scotty’ as they called him) had retired from PSE&G after dedicating 38 years of service.  Throughout the years he enjoyed spending quality time with his family which included fun-filled vacations where he played cards, and enjoyed swimming and rounds of golf with his sons and grandsons.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 1st at 9 AM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Cecelia’s RC Church, Iselin.  Burial to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
