Dominic A. Esposito, of Colonia passed away on Friday, April 7th at home. He was 87.
Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Linden before moving to Colonia in 1970.
He worked as a Project Manager at NJ Transit in Kearny for over 40 years before retiring in the early 1990s. He also served in the Marines during the Korean War. Throughout the rest of his life he was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps.
Known as the ‘Candy Man’, Dominic was a very kind and generous man who loved Werther’s Candies, playing craps in Atlantic City and always helping anyone in need. A devoted parishioner of St. John Vianney’s Church in Colonia and dedicated family man, Dominic also loved animals and fed the animals and birds in Merrill Park nearly every day.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary; son & daughter-in-law, James M. & Lorie A. Esposito of Colonia; daughter and son-in-law, Joan & John Craig of Freehold; and 5 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 9th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10th at 8:30 AM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass at St. John Vianney RC Church, Colonia. Entombment to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
