Bruce Edward Thompson, of Iselin passed away on Thursday, August 25th at the Ashbrook Care and Rehabilitation Center in Scotch Plains with his loving family by his side.  He was 70.

Born and raised in Perth Amboy, he has lived in Iselin for 46 years.    He graduated from Perth Amboy High School and attended Kean College.  He was a member of the Local #9 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for 50 years as a superintendent of various projects throughout his 40 year working career.  He was also an estimator and instrumentation foreman.  He was a parishioner of St. Cecelia’s RC Church in Iselin.

He will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor, always making everyone laugh.  He was known for always being there for his family or a friend in need.  He also had a great love of music and enjoyed making CDs for his family and friends.  “Brewster”, as he was called by those closest to him, loved watching and participating in his children’s and grandchildren’s sports and activities through the years.  He also enjoyed playing softball, visiting the shore, vintage cars and playing the drums.

His father, George Thompson died in February 2002.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Eileen; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen & John Dreboty of Kendall Park and Lori & James Sentman of Monmouth Junction; six grandchildren, Madison, John Jr., Chase, Caitlyn, Matthew and Ryan who adored their “Pop Pop”; mother, Rose Thompson of Lincroft; brother and sister-in-law, Gary & Colleen Thompson also of Lincroft; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon & Eric Lindfors of Barnegat and Patricia & Kenneth Gletow of Franklin Lakes; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30th from 4-8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31st at 9 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10 AM Mass at St. Cecelia’s RC Church, Iselin.  Entombment to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
