Anna (Spital) DePaola

Anna DePaola, of Hillsborough died Sunday, July 10th at the Foothill Acres Care Center in Hillsborough.  She was 89.

 Born and raised in Hillside, she lived in Colonia before moving to Hillsborough 9 years ago.

Anna worked for the Woodbridge Board of Education for 23 years as a Cafeteria Worker at Colonia High School before retiring in the mid-1980s.

She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Elizabeth.  Anna also had a passion for cooking and loved spending time with her family, hosting all of the holiday gatherings.

Her husband, Anthony DePaola died in 2011.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolann & Cesar Samaniego and Cathy & Tom Staszczyk, all of Hillsborough; brother, Frank Spital of Kenilworth; sister, Eva Miller of Hillsborough; and grandchildren, Michele, Erik, Christina and Caitlyn.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13th from 4-8 PM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14th at 8:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a 10 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Elizabeth.  Burial to follow in St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.
